ABOUT “Thriving with HIV - Treatment
Update 2009”
This is a series
of televised panel discussions surrounding the significant findings and
presentations at the CROI (Conference on Retrovirology and Opportunistic
Infections). The Treatment Update 2009 program will be very similar to past
Treatment Update programs. The Update panelists will discuss what they believe
to be the most important work from CROI that might translate into clinical care
for people living with HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis coinfection. The webcast program
will include excerpts of interviews with some of the leading scientists in the
world. The live program will be divided into three segments: HIV treatments;
side effects of treatment and HIV; and hepatitis issues. The twelve panelists
are in the process of being confirmed.
How to Participate
or Host
If you as an individual interested in participating
in this live program in your city, or are willing to host this program in your
city, please call: IFARA at (503) 736-0194 or email at: IFARA.PA@IFARATV.org or go to the
website: http://www.ifaratv.org/.
We will
identify an already established site, or work with you to establish a new host
site in your city. We will be happy to provide more information if you are
interested in becoming a host site. There are currently over 40 host sites
nationwide at this time and many more to come on line in the next two weeks.
Sites can be public or internal for staff only. The public sites are listed on
the IFARA
website, which will be updated every two days with new locations. We are also
setting up mini-sites to gain greater coverage and viewership of this program.
The live program will be delivered via webcast in two bandwidths and both Analog
C and digital KU band satellite formats. This should provide an option for
almost any educational venue.
DVDs
AIDS service organizations may contact IFARA to
receive DVD’s for delayed presentation to groups and for loan to individual
clients. A program in Spanish and another covering women’s issues in research
will be included in this DVD set.
