Novel HIV Therapies: Integrated Preclinical/Clinical Program (IPCP)(U19) Grant
The goal of this RFA is to support research collaborations between NIAID, academia, and the private sector for the purpose of moving new therapeutic concepts from the laboratory to the clinic for initial testing. The NIAID seeks applications from consortia of institutions/organizations in which the primary applicant may be from academia or the private sector and that include an Administrative Core and a minimum of 3 interrelated research projects, of which at least one must be contributed by the private sector and one, by academia.

Viral Hepatitis: Cooperative Agreement for Networking,
Education, and Training
Grant
The purpose of the program is to announce the availability
of fiscal year (FY) 2008 funds for a cooperative agreement program for viral
hepatitis prevention control networking, education, and training activities
that target persons at risk for viral hepatitis.

STD Surveillance Network (SSuN) Grant
The SSuN Project is intended to improve the capacity of national, state, and local STD programs to detect, monitor, and respond rapidly, with flexibility, and with greater effectiveness to established and emerging trends in STDs and related risk behaviors, and evaluate the effectiveness of public health interventions to reduce STD morbidity.The purpose of Part A is to strengthen and expand the existing SSuN platform to establish an integrated network of STD clinics and health departments that serve a diverse population, have a strong clinical as well as analytic capacity, and follow common protocols to implement surveillance activities. The purpose of Part B is to expand the capacity of the SSuN Surveillance Platform to allow the collection of STD biomarkers in a subset of STD clinics.

2008 Prevention for HIV Infected Women Living in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
The Prevention Program for HIV Infected Women Living in Puerto Rico seeks to prevent secondary transmission among women who practice high risk behaviors, to increase access to care for women living with HIV, to increase knowledge of protective behaviors of HIV infected women, and to reduce isolation of women living with HIV infection. The HIV Prevention for Women Living in the U.S. Virgin Islands Program seeks to provide accurate and comprehensive information on HIV/AIDS prevention AND healthy behaviors to maintain both mental and physical good health for women living in the U. S. Virgin Islands. The primary intent is to increase knowledge on preventing HIV among women and to increase understanding of self protective behaviors through a series of facilitated discussions.

2008 In Community Spirit - Prevention of HIV/AIDS for Native/American Indian and Alaska Native Women Living in Rural and Frontier Indian Country Program
The primary purpose of this OWH HIV/AIDS program is to increase HIV prevention knowledge and reduce the risk of contracting HIV among Native/American Indian and Alaska Native women living in Indian Country by developing and sustaining HIV prevention services to increase awareness of and receptivity to HIV prevention information among AI/AN women and gender specific education and prevention training modules on critical HIV/AIDS primary and secondary prevention/education information; mplementing education and prevention training modules that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, building on strengths of traditions, values, culture, and spirituality of indigenous communities of AI/AN women living in Indian Country.

Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS
The purpose of this program is to provide states and localities
with the resources and incentives to devise long-term comprehensive strategies
for meeting the housing needs of low-income persons with HIV/AIDS. Grant recipients will
measure client outcomes to assess how housing assistance creates or maintains
stable housing, reduces risks of homelessness, and improves access to health
care and other needed support.

Street Outreach Program Grant
The purpose of the SOP is to enable programs to help young people leave the streets. The goal of the program is to conduct outreach efforts to build relationships between street outreach staff and street youth. These efforts will provide support services that will assist youth in moving and adjusting to safe and appropriate alternative living arrangements to become independent, self-sufficient, contributing members of society.

PHASE II Comprehensive ICOHRTA AIDS/TB (U2R) Grant
Applications from a Research Training Unit, composed of a Phase I International Clinical, Operations and Health Services Research Training Award for AIDS and TB recipient and the U.S. partner institution chosen by the Phase I recipient, must propose, in an integrated manner, a comprehensive training program that will strengthen the capacity in the foreign country to conduct clinical research and implementation science, including operations and health services research focused on HIV infection, TB, and, where relevant, HIV/TB co-infection prevention, care and treatment.

Promoting Science-Based Approaches to the Prevention of Teen Pregnancy, HIV, and STI: Enhancing Capacity Building Provided by State Education Agencies and Tribal Governments Grant
The goal of this project is to improve the likelihood that schools will use effective evidence-based prevention programs and approaches (including curriculum-based teen pregnancy, HIV, and STI prevention education). One approach that is encouraged is employment of strategies that promote youth development. Two key strategies will be undertaken: expanding state-based partnerships and state of the art technical assistance.

2008 HPP HIV Prevention FOA Grant
The primary purpose or intent of this OWH program is to increase HIV prevention knowledge and reduce the risk of contracting HIV among young minority women. The OWH hopes to fulfill this purpose by providing funding to Minority Institutions to develop and implement a HIV/AIDS/STD prevention education program targeting young women on campus.

Supporting HIV Integration into Primary Care Settings in Indian Country Grant
The purpose of the supplement is to develop the capacity of
primary health care settings serving American Indian/Alaska Natives (AI/AN) to
effectively integrate HIV prevention services. This will be accomplished by
providing HIV integration training and technical assistance to organizations
implementing HIV integration efforts in Indian Country, including but not
limited to other Regional Training Centers; Indian Health Service, tribal
health, and urban Indian health programs; other publicly-funded primary health
care settings serving AI/AN; and other relevant non-profit institutions and
agencies, such as Tribal Epidemiology Centers and Indian health boards.

Transmission and Pathogenesis of HIV in Women (P01) Grant
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks applications from institutions/organizations that propose to increase understanding of HIV transmission and disease pathogenesis in women. Applicants are encouraged to propose multidisciplinary, interactive and synergistic program projects to address HIV infection in women through basic science and epidemiological investigations of female-specific biologic mechanisms that impact HIV transmission as well as HIV disease acquisition, manifestations and progression.

Novel Lentiviral Models of HIV Neuropathogenesis Grant
This grant opportunity invites research grant applications aimed at developing and or refinement of animal or ex vivo cell culture model systems for study of the neurologic complications of AIDS, with or without a history of drug or alcohol use. Recent advances in the development of the SIV model system highlight the power of animal model systems for study of the mechanisms underlying the pathology associated with lentiviral infection in the nervous system. These models will be key for developing therapeutic approaches for the treatment of patients suffering from NeuroAIDS and for understanding the basic biology of infection with HIV/AIDS.

Integrating Biobehavioral and Sociocultural Research to Prevent HIV Transmission and Infection (R01 & R21) Grant
This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications from organizations to develop theoretically grounded approaches to prevention of HIV infection and transmission that incorporate biobehavioral approaches in studies that are culturally appropriate. Biobehavioral approaches may be biomedical, or they may consist of behavioral interventions using biological markers of efficacy. Sociocultural appropriateness involves, at minimum, application of knowledge of the norms, beliefs and values of potential research subjects in varied contexts, and an appreciation of culture as dynamic.

Johnson & Johnson and Society for the Arts in Healthcare Grant
Johnson & Johnson, working in partnership with the Society for the Arts in Healthcare, seeks to promote the use of the arts to enhance the healthcare experience for patients, their families, and caregivers. From 2001 - 2008, we have provided funding to 115 programs in the US and Canada representing leading models and initiatives in high quality healthcare through the use of arts. Proposals are now being sought from healthcare and/or arts organizations that have established arts in healthcare programs with evidence of initial impact.

The National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) and Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), invite applications for the Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT) awards. These awards will support programs that offer international research training opportunities to qualified undergraduate, graduate and health professions students who are from health disparities populations and/or are underrepresented in basic science, biomedical, clinical or behavioral health research career fields.

CESH Scholars Program
The Center of Excellence for Sexual Health (CESH) Community Leadership in Sexual Health Scholars Program provides support for 10-month resident scholarships at Morehouse School of Medicine. The CESH Scholars Program seeks to promote community leadership in the area of sexual health and to forge links between sexual health and public health service to combat health disparities. In creating community leadership in this area, the CESH Scholars Program will advance the continuing professional development for persons interested in the elimination of disparities in sexual health worldwide and help ensure the effective application of knowledge about human sexuality to the public health sphere, at the local, state, national and international level.

Technical Assistance in Support of HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment Programs and Other Infectious Diseases That Impact HIV Infected Patients in Support of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
The purpose of this announcement is to fund organizations that will provide programmatic and technical assistance (TA) to in-country partners. The purpose of this assistance is to build capacity and sustainability within the framework of the participating country in which HHS/CDC has ongoing activities supporting the goals and priorities cited above; and to provide techincal assistance and training to support the United State Government (USG) initiative and the affected country governments in the expansion and strengthening of HIV and AIDS related activities. It is anticipated that at the end of the period of support, sufficient mechanisms and procedures will be in place to ensure continuation of the effort by the partner country.

Structural Interventions, Alcohol Use, and Risk of HIV/AIDS (R03)
This FOA issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health, solicits applications from institutions/ organizations that propose to investigate the effectiveness of structural interventions that reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission by changing the environment of alcohol use. Although a variety of structural and environmental interventions have been employed successfully to reduce other drinking-related problems, there has been little research that extends such efforts into the realm of HIV/AIDS risk reduction.

Public Health Conference Support Program
The Public Health Conference Support Program provides assistance to organizations generally recognized as demonstrating a need for information to protect the public from health effects of exposure to hazardous substances.
Only conferences planned for May 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010 are eligible to apply under this announcement. Applications are due March 8, 2009.
AIDS International Training and Research Program (D43)
This FOA invites applications from eligible institutions for innovative, collaborative research training programs that would contribute to the long-term goal of building sustainable research capacity in HIV-related conditions at institutions in low and middle income countries.

HIV Treatment Adherence Research (R01) (R03) (R21) (R34)
This FOA issued by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and National Institute of Nursing Research invites grant applications from applicant organizations to advance scientific research and intervention regarding HIV treatment adherence.
