SSA to Distribute Economic Recovery One-Time Payments Information to SSI and Social Security Beneficiaries

President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) currently is working out how these payments will be distributed. Informational brochures, mailers and online information will be coming out soon. Please keep checking the SSA's special one-time payment website: http://www.ssa.gov/payment/.

A great deal of information already is available on this site's Frequently-Asked-Questions (FAQ) page.

We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action will be required on the part of SSI and Social Security beneficiaries.
