Pfizer logo 2Pfizer Inc. recently announced an innovative patient assistance program to help eligible unemployed Americans and their families who have lost their health insurance maintain access to their Pfizer medicines.  Called MAINTAIN (Medicines Assistance for Those who Are in Need), the program will allow qualifying patients and their families to receive up to a year’s supply of Pfizer medicines for free.

Eligibility requirements of the new program include:
  • The primary wage earner has become unemployed since January 1, 2009
  • They have been taking a Pfizer medicine for at least 3 months prior to the unemployment and enrolling in the program
  • They have no prescription drug coverage
  • They can attest to financial hardship

Save-the-Date for the Next NMAC Stakeholder Call

As announced last week, NMAC will hold its second Stakeholder Call on Friday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. EST, with guest speaker Dr. Kevin Fenton, Director of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) of the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He will be discussing the CDC's new HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, Act Against AIDS. To participate, call (605) 475-6333 and type in access code: 481162. Due to the large number of participants expected, the call will not be an open forum. NMAC has announced new dates for its SOAR training-of-trainers (TOT) series. These three day training session certify professional trainers to deliver courses in Strategic Planning, Human Resources, Fund Development and Proposal Writing, Board Development, Financial Management or Budget Basics, and Coalition Building to Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) providing HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services throughout the United States.

Early Treatment Summit

The ADAP Advocacy Association, in partnership with the Community Access National Network (CANN), will convene its “Early Treatment of HIV” on July 20th-21st in Washington, DC. Registration for the Summit is only $199.00 per attendee, and a limited number of scholarships will be awarded based on need. The National Library of Medicine Announces HIV/AIDS Community Information Outreach Projects 2009 (NLM-09-078/SES)

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is pleased to announce the solicitation of quotations from organizations and libraries to design and conduct projects that will improve access to HIV/AIDS related health information for patients, the affected community, and their caregivers. The 2009 National HIV Prevention Conference, set for August 23-26, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, in Atlanta, GA. The Kaiser Family Foundation is seeking your help in identifying HIV-positive Latinos in the US (in any number of major U.S. cities including L.A., New York, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, among others) who could potentially appear in a PSA campaign on HIV/AIDS currently in development. In 2008, Kaiser, in partnership with Univision Networks, launched the first national Spanish-language media campaign on HIV/AIDS, entitled “Soy…”, featuring the personal stories of a diverse group of Latinos living with HIV and the people in their lives. For the second year of this campaign, we are looking to profile a new group of HIV-positive Latinos from across the country.
