Below are the many ways you can support NMAC’s mission to help develop
leadership in communities of color to address HIV/AIDS. You also may download a
copy of NMAC's Planned Giving document.
Contributions can be made in the
following ways:
Telephone
Contacting NMAC’s Development division at (202) 483-6622.
Postal
Mail
Donations may be made out to “National Minority AIDS Council”, and mailed
to the following address:
National Minority AIDS
Council, Development Division, 1931 13th Street,
NW, Washington, DC
Please note: Donations made to the
National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) are tax-deductible to the full extent of
the law.
Please contact us, donations@nmac.org, to discuss donations of in-kind products or services. We cannot accept small, individual donations or collections of items, such as food, clothes or cleaning supplies due to the cost of sorting, packaging and distributing them. Bulk donations—namely new, shrink-wrapped and palletized items transported by the donor—are best. The tax benefits for gifts-in-kind can be similar to gifts of money or securities. If the property is used for NMAC's mission, the donor can deduct the property's full fair market value, provided he/she has owned the property for more than a year. Otherwise, the donor can deduct the property's cost basis, an amount which usually equals the price the donor paid for the property.
Memorial
Gifts
A gift made in memory,
or in honor, of a loved one is a generous and thoughtful gesture to recognize a
person’s life and accomplishments. When an honorary or memorial gift is made,
the Development Division notifies the honoree or
next-of-kin.
To make an honorary
gift, send a letter indicating the purpose, as well as the name and
address of the honoree. For memorial gifts, if a memorial fund has not been
established, you should note somewhere on your check the name of the honoree, as
well as the address of the appropriate contact
person.
Matching
Gifts
One way to maximize
your gift to NMAC is to check with your employer's personnel department to see
if it is one of the many companies offering a matching gift program. By
following your company's guidelines, the value of your gift may be doubled or
tripled. Many companies make this benefit available to employees, their spouses,
retirees and board members.
