Tasha Campbell Parker is a Health Educator for at Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) and a Peer Navigator at the Multicultural AIDS Coalition. She has been doing HIV/AIDS prevention and education work for 6+ years at different capacities, Event planning, facilitating workshops and trainings, street outreach & community mobilization.
Tasha began her work with a grassroots group called New Era; Movement in Motion and the Test 1 Million Boston Coalition in the city of Boston which targeted young people by hosting fun and innovative events and providing them with an opportunity to get tested.
She believes that Comprehensive Sexual Education for young people is a major way they can prevent getting infected with HIV/STI as well and prevent unplanned pregnancies. She is working on getting the Fashion, Music and Art community in the city of Boston taking on the Issue of HIV/ AIDS as well as a Sex Positive outlook as a way to reduce Stigma.
Tasha is Committee member of for various HIV/AIDS initiatives & campaigns on a local and national level like Take the Test Boston, Safer is S.E.X.Y a 3 times National Minority AIDS Council Youth Initiative Scholar and an Ambassador for National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
During USCA14 I plan of getting to know the rest of the Youth that are part of the Initiative and picking up on strategies that work with young people in their city around testing, HIV Prevention/ Education. I am also looking forward in attending sessions that focus on Media, Youth and High Prevention strategies in Communities of Color. Meeting potential partners at the Exhibit hall is also and exciting way to build community and create new collaborations.
