Ilia M. Otero-Cruz is a 25 year old woman born in Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor’s degree in Biology and finished her Masters in Public Health with academic excellence in 2015. She has been doing HIV-related research in the Center of Evaluation and Sociomedic Research for two years focusing on HIV + men who have sex with men, experiences of discrimination, sexual health, access to healthcare services, LGBT people, among others. Also, she has done volunteer work studying sexual violence, utilization of healthcare services and HIV risk behaviors in women intravenous drug users in Puerto Rico. Currently, she is working in an ongoing evaluation of satisfaction with the healthcare services provided to people with HIV in Puerto Rico.
