José is a 23-year-old who is currently in school working on his bachelor’s in Political Science. He is a Chicago native who grew up in Wicker Park. José has been an active member of the LGBT community in Chicago since he was 14. He is currently working at The Center on Halsted, where he provides HIV testing and linkage to care services to undeserved populations throughout the city. He is also an ambassador to Vives Q, an independent cultural arts project committed to creating an LGBTQ movement building experience through art, music, spoken word, dance, and oral history that enables inter-generational dialogue across multiple identities and communities.
