I am a 24 year old Native Virginian who moved to New York City in 2010 to follow my dreams by pursuing a career in the dance industry dance as a professional dancer/aspiring choreographer. My journey definitely has been one to tell. From losing my only job and becoming practically homeless to being diagnosed with HIV in 2012, to now being part-time working make-up artist/dance instructor and HIV/AIDS activist, I have had the pleasure of developing and creating and doing the make-up for multiple PSAs/Poster Campaigns on subjects such as stigma surrounding HIV, issues with taking medication, HIV criminalization and campaigns to promote the normalization of HIV. I also teach a women’s stiletto heels class that promote female empowerment and unity. I plan to bring back all that learn at USCA and use it within my support group here in New York City and in my work with Connection Health Solution and MyMediaLife where I was able help create the previously mentioned PSAs and Poster Campaigns.
